Healing the Whole Family for Children with Developmental Trauma Whom Have Been Adopted or are in Kinship Care

Mental Health/ Behavioral Health; Intellectual Disabilities; Case Worker; Criminal Justice; Youth; Family; Adoption; Legal Guardianship; Kindship Care Adoption/kinship care is a wonderful way to add to your family as well as a wonderful way to help children who have experienced developmental trauma. Adoption/kinship care offers an opportunity to heal and develop healthy relationships. However, sometimes this journey is not very smooth and it is important for the adoptive/kinship are parents to understand this and if they face difficulties along the way, to know what they can do to nurture and sustain the adoption/placement and their families as a whole. This presentation will address promoting individual and family resiliency and well-being. It will also address the importance of building resiliency through effective self-care practices in a professional setting.

Patty Potter, LCSW

Patty Potter LCSW is the Executive Director of Affinity Family Support Services PC and a Pennsylvania Licensed Clinical Social Worker that has been in practice for over 25 years. She was initially trained in trauma and attachment by Dr. Gregory Keck at the Attachment and Bonding Center of Ohio. She has since studied under Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk at the Trauma Center in Brookline MA and is certified in traumatic stress studies. She is also certified in evidenced based EMDR (Eye Movement, Desensitization, and Reprocessing ) for PTSD and Complex trauma and Attachment through EMDRIA. She is also trained in evidenced based Trauma Focused CBT by Anthony Mannarino PHD and Judith Cohen MD at the Center for Traumatic Stress in Children and Adolescents , Allegheny General Hospital.

Callie Arney, LCSW
Callie Arney LCSW is a private practitioner at Affinity Family Support Services PC whom has been in practice for over 25 years. Callie was initially trained in trauma and attachment by Dr. Gregory Keck at the Attachment and Bonding Center of Ohio. She was also trained in Trauma Focused CBT by Anthony Mannarino PhD and Judith Cohen MD at the Center for Traumatic Stress in Children and Adolescents , Allegheny General Hospital. She is also certified in EMDR (Eye Movement desensitization and Reprocessing) through EMDRIA for PTSD and complex trauma, She is also a Trauma Informed Yoga Instructor, and a Dancing Mindfully Facilitator.
